McGill student representative incites violence against Zionists

A member of the Legislative Council and Board of Directors of the Students’ Society of McGill University is facing calls for his resignation after tweetingpunch a Zionist today” on February 6, 2017, reported B’nai Brith Canada’s League for Human Rights.

Igor Sadikov, an advocate of the anti-Israel boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement at McGill is also a former news editor of The McGill Daily, the campus newspaper which recently came under fire for admitting that they refuse to publish “pieces which promote a Zionist worldview.”

Vote No McGill, a coalition of students who oppose BDS on campus found Sadikov’s actions “appalling” and called for his resignation.

“It is appalling that an elected representative who holds significant power within the McGill community is advocating violence against Zionists, a significant portion of McGill students. Tweets like these cause many McGill students, both Jewish and non-Jewish, to feel unsafe. We hope Mr. Sadikov will take responsibility for his actions and resign immediately. As long as Mr. Sadikov continues to hold power in AUS and SSMU, thousands of members of the McGill community will feel unsafe at their own school and threatened by their student government”, Vote No McGill posted on their Facebook page.

In a statement, National Director of B’nai Brith Amanda Hohman said: “This is clear incitement to violence, which should not be tolerated on the part of any student, let alone a student politician. We expect that this tweet will be taken for the serious example of incitement that it is, and Sadikov will be censured appropriately”.

“Further, Sadikov’s tweet only strengthens the case of those who have claimed an overwhelmingly anti-Israel atmosphere at The McGill Daily. B’nai Brith will do everything in our power to ensure that publication’s discriminatory ban on Zionist content does not stand”, she added.

  1. Has anyone else noticed an overt rise in anti Semitism, anti Jewish, anti Israel rhetoric in the past year?

I’ve started to notice there is a lot of hate being spread online, in public, by politicians, countries and even the UN.

For being “tolerant”, there sure seems to be a lot of intolerance out there.

Have you noticed? Have you challenged it?

  2. Any relationship with Hitler , they try wiping they try wiping them out of the planet in the late 70th but they all loss , instead the loss their land to Israel , you should know better ,
