Flyer at Western U: “Jewish terrorists” killed Muslims in Quebec mosque attack

Following the discovery of an anti-Semitic flyer which was circulated on campus at Western University in London, Ontario last week which attacked the Jewish community, the Student Council (SCWU) issued a letter condemning the flyer as “hate speech”.

The flyer, sent by the Canadian National Independence Party (C.N.I.P.), accuses Jews for the murder of 6 Muslim worshippers at a mosque in Quebec in late January, blames “Jewish Zionist terrorists in Israel” for assassination of Muslims in Palestine. It demands that all Zionists in Canada be tried as terrorists and imprisoned.

On the evening of January 29, 2017, Alexandre Bissonnette, a 27-year-old student at Laval University, entered the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec and opened fire with a rifle, killing 6 men and wounding 19 others as they prayed.

C.N.I.P. which doesn’t have a website or Facebook page, further calls on the Canadian government to close the Israeli embassy in Ottawa, open a Palestinian Embassy in London, Ontario and end British Colonial rule in Canada.

The Student Council’s letter condemned the “incredibly prejudiced” flyer, which it says promotes violence.

“Generalizing, targeting, extremism, and drawing conclusions based on identities, race or religion, is prejudiced, violent and has no place in any discussions or space on our campus”, the letter continued. “Attacks like this on members, groups, or communities on our campus are disgusting and inexcusable”.

Robert Walker, director of Hasbara Fellowships Canada, a student pro Israel advocacy organization, told CIJnews that Hasbara is investigating the incident.

Last week, Igor Sadikov, a student leader and anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) activist at McGill University came under fire from Jewish organizations and students after tweeting “PUNCH A ZIONIST TODAY”.

The following is the text of the flyer:

Canadian National Independence Party (C.N.I.P.)

Notice #1

Here is Canada, here is NOT Israel!

We hereby announce that our party, the Canadian Independence Party, condemns the assassination of the Muslims in Quebec mosque by Jewish terrorists who were trained by Israel Zionists.

We also condemn the assassination of Muslims in Palestine by Jewish Zionist terrorists in Israel.

We request that all Zionists in Canada be tried as terrorists and all members be put in jail.

Our party wants to close the Israeli Embassy in Ottawa and open a Palestine Embassy in London, Ontario, Canada

In every society where there is no justice, that society will fail. People will be forced to balance

their lives by gaining employment with the government. As the budget goes to the military

to keep Canada a colony of England. Perpetual inflation stops society from moving forward/ progressing.

The puppet government in Canada is not representative of the people. Government that does not represent the majority does not care and all the people have to pay the cost of their mistakes.

Canadians, if you want land, freedom, peace, justice, work and housing, you have to protest the policies of Britain’s puppet rulers and you must demand an end to the British colonial rule in Canada.

Long live nationalism!

Long live independent Canada!

Long live independent Palestine!

Down with Israel!

Down with Colonialism!

Down with Zionism!

Dear Students,

It has come to our attention that a document has been circulating around campus that directly attacks our Jewish community on campus. This document is incredibly prejudiced, strongly promotes violence, and is simply hate speech. Generalizing, targeting, extremism, and drawing conclusions bused on identities, race. or religion, is prejudiced. violent, and has no place in any discussion, or space on our campus.

Free speech is incredibly important, especially of o learning institution. One that promotes discussion, and learning. However, hate speech is not free speech os it is violent, targeting, marginalizing, and unacceptable.

At tacks like this on members, groups, or communities on our campus are disgusting and inexcusable. The safety and wellbeing of our students is the most important thing, and anything that threatens this has no place on our campus.

The core duty of the USC is to provide and advocate for the health and safety of all of our students. Thus, we cannot ignore when groups on our campus are being targeted. or feel unsafe in any way.

The USC is and will continue to remain anti-divisive, anti-violence. anti-hate, and anti-prejudice. At its core, the USC is pro-wellness, pro-acceptance, and pro-safety. Every community and group on our campus has a right to feel sate and well, and the VSC will continue to strive to ensure this.
