A $60 million jackpot won for a second time in Québec! A Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean couple shares their winnings with loved ones. (CNW Group/Loto-Québec)

Quebecers were lucky at the lottery in January

Marie-Josée Picard and Carl Villeneuve, residents of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean who won the $60M winning Lotto Max ticket for the February 10, 2017 jackpot, decided to share their winnings with members of their respective families, including their children, their fathers and their siblings.

It is the second time that a $60 million jackpot is won in Québec. At the January 6 draw, a group of 28 Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec residents were the first to win the maximum jackpot offered at Lotto Max.

During January 2017, 14 prizes of 1 million dollars or more were claimed in Quebec by no 39 winners, breaking the historic records for Loto-Québec in terms of winnings awarded in a given month. From January 1 to December 31, 2016, a record number of 104 prizes worth $1 million or more were awarded in Québec.
