Parents demand to delay TanenbaumCHAT Kimel campus closing for one year

Parents of students at TanenbaumCHAT Kimel campus in Vaughan, Ont. have formulated a counter proposal to the decision to merge the campus into a single campus in the Wilmington location effective September, 2017.

The proposal, that will be presented at Town Hall meeting with the school’s administration on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, demands the following:

  • To delay the TanenbaumCHAT Kimel campus closing for at least ONE year.
  • To establish a Parents’ Association for the Kimel campus, as set out under the TanenbaumCHAT by-laws, to liaise with school administrators and the Board of Directors, and to develop objectives, including, but not limited to the following:
  • To launch an aggressive campaign to increase enrolment at the reduced fee structure for the next two years. A specific admission goal would have to be set within in an agreed time line.
  • To run an aggressive grassroots fundraising campaign.
  • To identify areas where additional cost-savings can be made across both campuses.
  • To work on a transition plan concurrently if the above goals are not met within an agreed timeframe. It is our position that the future Head of School for 2018/19 should be in charge of such a transition, effective immediately, to ensure ongoing communication and accountability. It is imperative for ALL CHAT students, that if a merger does take place, the transition is well thought out, actioned and that this will not negatively impact the level of education currently being received.
