1. Images Festival

April 20 – 27, 2017

Images Festival returns to Toronto for its 30th annual edition showcasing innovative contemporary art. Featuring eight days of screenings, events, performances and exhibitions, the festival is Canada’s largest on and off screen showcase of contemporary art.

The 2017 festival includes 48 on screen films, 12 off screen exhibitions, and four live image projects.

2. Total Health Show

Fri-Sun, April 21- 23, 2017

Panels, vendors, workshops and lectures on creating good health and preventing disease using natural methods. Weekend exhibit pass $10, lectures and exhibition Fri $10, Sat or Sun $30, weekend $50.

3. Backyard Living Expo

Fri-Sun, April 21 – Apr 23, 2017

Consumer show featuring barbecues, outdoor kitchen accessories, pools, trampolines, outdoor furniture and more plus tips on landscape design, gardening and anything else you can think of to do in your backyard. Tickets are $14-$16, $10 for seniors, and FREE if you’re 18 and under.

4. ParkPLAY for Earth Day at Trinity Bellwoods

Saturday, April 22, ALL DAY

Earth Day Canada’s main Earth Day event, ParkPLAY provides adventure play for the little ones in their “Wild About Canada” POP-UP Adventure Playground. EarthPLAY will give kids the opportunity to build, create, make-believe, get messy, invent, collaborate and take calculated risks.

This event provides participants with a chance to see up-close what an adventure playground looks like, and to better understand why Earth Day Canada is fundraising to bring permanent adventure playgrounds to parks.

6. Tree Planting at Downsview Park

Sunday, April 23, 11am-4pm

A free event in honour of the annual Earth Day and in celebration of 150 years to Canada. Come plant your own tree and participate in other events such as the Birds of Prey demonstration, a drop in campfire with marshmallows, a meeting with a beekeeper and vendors throughout the park.

7. Drop, Swap & Shop

Sunday, April 23, 10am-3pm

Drop your end-of-life electronics, pass on things you don’t use and pick-up one-of-a-kind items. $2 if you drop off in advance, $5 day of event.

For each item you drop off you will be given 1 ticket in return. THERE is a 25 item maximum., and all items must be gently used, clean, and functional. Categories include baby supplies, children’s clothing and toys, women’s and men’s clothes and accessories, houseware and art, entertainment, and sports and equipment.

8. The Leslieville Flea

The last indoor Flea of the season takes place in the beloved Distillery District, at the Fermenting Cellar. This is a curated market selling vintage, salvaged, upcycled goods, furniture, antiques, collectibles and work from select artisans.

9. The Launch of Tal Shaish’s Relationship Empowering Book

10. Hot Docs Film Festival

April 27 – May 7, 2017

Come watch the award-winning Israeli documentary Death in the Terminal by Assaf Sudri and Tali Shemesh.Death in the Terminal is a 53-minute documentary which presents the terrorist attack that took place in the Beer Sheva bus terminal in 2015, seen through multiple eyewitness perspectives and video surveillance footage.

Or watch one of the other many intriguing films screening this year, like 8/52, dedicated entirely one of the most iconic and scariest scene of all times – the shower scene in Psycho. The scene is picked apart by film historians, avid horror film viewers, filmmakers, actors and film critics.
