Richard Scrimger and local writers at Bathurst Clark Library this Saturday

A special writers’ series program will take place this Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Bathurst Clark Library in Vaughan.

Richard Scrimger will open the event at 1:30pm. Richard Scrimger is the acclaimed Canadian bestselling author of several children and teen books, that have received plenty of attention in the literary world. His latest additions are Downside Up, Weirdest Day Ever, and Lucky Jonah, which won the CBC Best Book of the year in 2016.

Richard will share his experience in creating children’s literature, and will speak about “what SpongeBob, Harry Potter and Lara Croft have in common”.

At 2:30 local authors will speak about their writing experience, among them Israeli born Sigal Haber, who recently published her first children’s book Chuck the Rooster Loses His Voice. Sigal is involved in the academia and will talk about Transferring an Academic Theme to a Children’s Book. Other talks include:

Elise Abram – “From the Known to the Unknown”

Josephine Vaccaro-Chang – “The Joy of Self-Publishing”

Tamara Hecht – “Starting Local”

Howard Isenberg – “Inspiration in Writing a Children’s Book”

A panel and networking will follow.
