Canada condemns Paris “terrorist” attack

The Islamic State (aka ISIS, Daesh, Calipahe) claimed responsibility for the shooting attack in Paris on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Reuters reported that the gunman, identified as Karim Cheurfi, opened fire on a police vehicle parked on the Champs Elysees in Paris late on Thursday, killing one officer and injuring two others before being shot dead.

In response to the attack, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted:

Canada stands with France, as we always will, against terror. Our thoughts are with those affected by today’s attack in Paris.

Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, issued the following statement:

The Government of Canada condemns the apparent terrorist attack this evening on the Champs-Élysées, and we offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the police officer killed and a swift recovery to the two police officers injured. Canadians stand in solidarity with the people of France. We are in contact with local authorities and stand ready to provide consular assistance to Canadian citizens if needed.

Trudeau government maintains that the Islamic State (aka ISIS, Daesh, Caliphate) and other Islamic terrorist groups has nothing to do with Islam and that Muslims are the greatest victims of their actions.

In an interview (November 12, 2014) to the Islamic Alameen Post magazine, based in Surrey, BC Trudeau was quoted as saying the following:

In reference to the Ottawa shooting and statements given by the other two political leaders, especially when it comes to Canadian Muslims, he feels that they could have done a better job. He [Trudeau] feels that in light of the 9/11 incidents and lessons learned from it, that any time such an incident does occur there has to be strong message needed to be sent to separate the muslims from the terrorist
