Toronto protest: “Liberation of the Middle East is linked to liberation of Canada’s Indigenous people”

Nour Alideeb, the President of University of Toronto Mississauga Students’ Union (UTMSU), was one of the speakers at the Toronto protest in support of the hunger strike of the Palestinian “political prisoners” (convicted terrorists, according to Israel) that took place on Saturday, May 13, 2017, in front of the Israeli Consulate in Toronto.

The following is an excerpt from Nour Alideeb’s speech:

As a Syrian woman I’ve been working for the last seven years knowing that I’m also Palestine, because the liberation of my people is linked to the liberation of of Palestinians, and the liberation of the Middle East is linked to the liberation of the Indigenous people here on Turtle Island. All our oppressions are linked, because they are rooted in the same white supremacist bullshit. So we need to fight back. Each of us is connected.
