Trudeau: We strive to show that “Islam is not incompatible” with Western values

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau exposes another aspect of its strategy to build a prosperous Canada that uses mass immigration and religious and cultural diversity as a source of strength.

In an interview to Maulik Doshi for the CBC, Trudeau emphasized the importance of working with the Canadian Muslim community to demonstrate that “Islam is not incompatible with free and open Western societies.”

Trudeau maintained that by sharing its values with Canadian Muslims and new Muslim immigrants from Syria, Canada will be able to “dis-empower ISIL (a.k.a. The Islamic State, IS, ISIS, the Caliphate).”

The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Maulik Doshi:

“How is your plan to for stopping the radicalization [Muslim] youth inside Canada?”

Justin Trudeau:

“On the one hand, we must need to make sure that there are Police and security services have the tools needed to go after them.

“But on the other hand, we need to make sure that we’re working with communities like the Muslim community for example to demonstrate that Islam is not incompatible with free and open Western societies. We have that in Canada.

“An extraordinary Muslim community that contributes fully and the narrative of ISIL is that Islam is incompatible with freedom and respect.

“Well, we show here in Canada that it is not and by demonstrating both strength and resolve in going after these terrorists but also with openness and respect that for example allows us to welcome in Syrian refugees is the kind of model that ISIL is most threatened by.

“That is how Canada will continue to share its values, openness that balances against and dis-empowers ISIL.”

In an interview (November 12, 2014) to Alameen Post magazine, based in Surrey, BC Trudeau addressing the local Muslim community, was quoted as saying the following:

In reference to the Ottawa shooting and statements given by the other two political leaders, especially when it comes to Canadian Muslims, he feels that they could have done a better job. He feels that in light of the 9/11 incidents and lessons learned from it, that any time such an incident does occur there has to be strong message needed to be sent to separate the muslims from the terrorist…”

Western values and Islamic State and Islamic Law – the Canadian Islamic perspective

Quebec Imam: There is difference between the Islamic system of government and democracy

All major Islamic organizations worldwide, including in Canada, believe in establishing the Islamic State or the Caliphate which will implement the Islamic Law (Sharia) instead of man-written laws of democracy.

Sheik Houssein Muhammad Amer (حسين محمد عامر), the Imam of Centre Aljisr (مركز الجسر الإسلامي) in Laval, Quebec, who took a active part in the pro democracy rallies in Ottawa, explained in his Friday sermon the true meaning of democracy in Islam:

The difference between democracy and Islam is that democracy makes the people the governing authority that has ultimate [free] will. Therefore, all rulers or all candidates in the elections in this country strive to please the people without any limits.”

For instance, if the people are pleased with same-sex marriage there is no problem as long as a sector of the people wants same-sex marriage. The church will welcome it; there is no problem [for the Church in doing so]. If a large sector of the people wants this specific issue there is no problem as the people are those who express their will and the candidate is the one who strives to please the people.”

Once the person in charge fails to meet the people’s demands or fails in carrying out his responsibilities he will not be able to hold his position. He will have to resign or be sacked. This is the distinguishing point between democracy and Islam.”

Islam does not attribute [the principle of free] will to people with respect to the laws of Allah and his ordained punishments. There is a limit, there is a religious reference of the supreme constitution and the greatest constitution that rejects any law contrary [to Islam] and this is the noble Koran, meaning if for example a sector of the people wants to permit drinking wine, what is the ruling of the Islamic Law on wine? Prohibited. Therefore, this demand is denied, as the freedom is dependent on the Sharia [Islamic Law], because we as Muslims are demanded to be subjected to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and on the basis of subjection to [Allah] we permit what Allah permitted and prohibit what Allah prohibited.”

Indeed, in the Islamic system of government the peoples live in nobility and dignity, as they have their [free] will, their freedoms, [the right] to choose who governs them, but the supreme and greatest constitution of the Muslims’ ruler is the Book of Allah, the Sharia [Islamic Law] of Almighty Allah…”

The difference between the Islamic system of government and democracy, which is a new system of government, is that the democracy does not have a limitation with respect to the demands and the aspirations of the people, and the ruler has to fulfill what the people want.”

The Islamic system of government makes the people dignified and respected and educate them… on the principle that the people are equal as the teeth of the comb, on the principle that all of you are patrons and all of you are in charge of your congregation. This will and this freedom are confined by the boundaries of the greatest constitution, the Koran and Sunnah, which are the supreme religious reference of any Muslims.”

Founder of iERA Canada: Islam is not compatible with democracy

iERA Canada defined itself a “national nonprofit organization committed to inform, educate, and actively engage humanity about the truth and noble message of Islam” and “focused on empowering the Muslim community in North America with the tools and resources to engage society about Islam.”

iERA Canada is a branch of the Global Dawah organisation committed to presenting the true message of Islam to the World. iERA international was founded by Abdurraheem Green (born Anthony Vatswaf Galvin Green) in Britain and since then extended its Dawah activity globally.

The British Telegraph reported (May 24, 2014) that the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA), founded and run by Abdur Raheem Green and operates branches also in Canada, “is being investigated by the official watchdog amid allegations that its leaders promote anti-Semitism and have called for homosexuals and female adulterers to be stoned to death.”

On 30 November 2014, the Telegraph reported that the iERA was “closely linked to a number of the ‘Portsmouth jihadis’ – six young men from the Hampshire city who travelled together to fight for Islamic State (ISIL) in Syria.” iERA denied that the Portsmouth group were part of the IERA organisation, but added:”However, Portsmouth Dawah Team members, including Hassan and Jaman, dressed in IERA T-shirts to proseltyse and used IERA banners and literature on their street stall. The group was last year described by Mission Dawah, part of IERA, as ‘our team from Portsmouth.’”

The following are excerpts of Green’s speeches during the last few years:

Islam is not compatible with democracy – “Whoever believes that it is permissible and allowed to judge and to legislate in contradiction with Allah’s judgment and legislation is without doubt a disbeliever… If democracy means that sovereignty is with the people, that the people have the right to decide what’s halal [permitted] and haram [prohibited] and it’s up to them, then no Muslim with any mustard seed of iman [faith] can agree with this… Islam is not compatible with democracy if we mean by democracy that people have the right to legislate and people have sovereignty… What they have in the West, actually in my opinion, is the allusion of democracy. It’s the allusion of democracy. They make people think and believe that they have a choice, that they can influence things, but in reality they can’t change anything.”

Nationalism is against Islam values – “Nationalism is something in Islam that is really haram [prohibited] and it is Jahiliyyah [ignorance of divine guidance] and whoever calls for nationalism they call to Jahiliyyah and whoever fights for nationalism fights for Jahiliyyah.”

Jews and Christians are not to be trusted – “Do not take the Jews and the Christians or the mushrikeen [polytheists] as your awliya [supporter, guardian or protector]. What is the word awliya, what does it mean? It has a meaning of friendship, close friendship. It has the meaning of your advisers, your protectors.”

Adulterers should be stoned to death – “Why do you chop the hand of the thief? Why do you stone the adulterer and adulteress to death? Why do you chop the hand and the leg of the one who commits violent robbery and leave them to bleed to death or crucify them? All of these – to deter the people from being evil and committing evil.”

Homosexuality is evil – “First of all I don’t like to use this word gay. This word gay to use it is already to be fooled by the propaganda of these people. OK. This word is used in order to make this evil and vile act acceptable in society. They should be called at least homosexuals. This is the least. Better to use a more derogatory term like sodomites.”

Wife beating is permissible in principle – “The husband is allowed to prevent her from evil to apply some type of physical force. This is a type of a very light beating. In fact, as some has mentioned it is just to hit with the miswak [20cm long teeth cleaning twig].”

Toronto Muslim community leader involved in interfaith dialogue: “I reject democracy and all other forms of governance except Islam”

Naeem Muhammad Khan is senior partner of Mohammad Robert Heft, RCMP’s deradicalization adviser, in his outreach activities within the Muslim community.

Based on an interview with him (April 24, 2008), National Post journalist, Stewart Bell, described Naeem Muhammad Khan as a Torontonian who “openly supports the Taliban and calls Osama bin Laden a hero.”

The following are excerpts of the interview in which he also justifies the fighting of the Taliban against the Canadian troops in Afghanistan and rejects “democracy and all other forms of governance except Islam”:

Q) “You reject democracy, you support the Taliban and you believe that fundamentalist Islam is the only way to live. So why do you choose to live in Canada, a democratic nation with freedom of religion that is at war with the Taliban? Isn’t it hypocritical of you say you believe what you do, while you sit in Toronto enjoying all the benefits of Western society?”

A) “Yes, I reject democracy and all other forms of governance except Islam. Yes, I support the right of Taliban to live freely and to defend themselves from any invasion based on lies and deceit. And yes it would have had been hypocritical of me to stay in the West had there been an Islamic state and still I would have had been living in the West but since there is no state in the entire world which has complete Islamic system in it and the Islamic world is full of either dictators supported by the West or leaders who are ready to crush any uprising calling for an Islamic system. Therefore it is better to be in the West where at least one can openly preach what he believes in unlike the so called Islamic countries where you can be jailed, tortured and even killed for speaking the truth against the government. Besides I was forced into coming to the West as my parents shifted here and I was not self sufficient enough to provide for myself back home. And believe it or not, me and many Muslims like me are willing to migrate ASAP to an Islamic state as soon as it emerges.”

Edmonton Imam: “You have to choose either Allah or Canada”

Abdi Hersy is the Imam of Abu Bakr Musallah in Calgary, Alberta and a prominent voice in Calgary’s Somali community. The following is an excerpt of Imam Abdi Hersy’s speech, which was uploaded to YouTube on March 4, 2015:

Since when we are free? We are not free. We are always slaves to Allah, the most glorified, the most high, servants to Allah, and we are here to please Allah, the most glorified, the most high.

“So that ideology, you know I came to Canada, freedom starts here, if you mean freedom being disobedient to Allah, the most glorified, the most high, be my guest, but that what it is. You have to choose either Allah, the most glorified, the most high, or Canada. Canada is a feminine country. So ladies, the other thing that I want you to quit from your life is feminism. Sometimes they ask you questions that you cannot even answer. They want to match the men in everything…”

Toronto Islamic organization: The constitution of a Muslim State must be based on Qur’an and Sunnah

Muslim Dawah activists at Dundas Square distributed last year the book Human Rights in Islam and Common Misconceptions” authored by Abdul-Rahman al-Sheha. On the back cover of both books an official sticker of Walk in Islamic Info Center (WIIC), a Toronto-based organization dedicated to Dawah (propagating to Islam). The following are excerpts from the book:

“The basis for the Islamic ruling and legal judgments is Shariah, Islamic law. The constitution of a Muslim State must be based on Qur’an and Sunnah…There should be no room for personal opinion if an authenticated text is available. Islamic law is a comprehensive system of jurisprudence including personal and family law, criminal law, national and international law, which fulfills all requirements of man in the most upright manner since it is based upon the revelations from Allah to His Messenger for the guidance of man…

“The punishment of flogging is legislated for a not previously married male or female who commit fornication…

“As for the married male or female who commits adultery while being married or after divorcing one’s spouse, the penalty for such a criminal person is… stoning to death

Fornication and adultery: Islam prescribes the punishment of flogging for those that have never been previously married and are guilty of fornication…

“As for the previously married male or female who commit adultery, the punishment applied to them is stoning to death

“Slander: Public flogging is the prescribed punishment for false accusation of fornication or adultery… The purpose of establishing and executing this punishment is to protect the honor and reputation of the innocent…”

Canadian Imam likens Trudeau to a King who helped Muslims and converted to Islam

Canadian Sheikh Shaban Sherif Mady (شعبان شريف ماضي), was a scholar at al-Azhar theological school in Egypt and served at the Ministry of Endowment and Ministry of Education of the Egyptian government. Today, he is the Imam of a Muslim congregation in Edmonton, Alberta which holds its Friday prayers at Glengarry Hall in Edmonton.

Shaban Sherif Mady dedicated his Friday sermon on December 18, 2015 to Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom he sees as the greatest ally of the Muslims. Trudeau was likened to “the Najashi”, the Christian King of Abyssinia in the 7th century AD, who is honoured in the Islamic history for the support and protection he provided to the Muslim emigrants who fled pagan Mecca and his persistent refusal to expel them while fending off the pressure and lure offered by Muhammad’s Meccan rival leadership. Later, according to the Islamic tradition, the Najashi King accepted Muhammad’s invitation to embrace Islam and became a Muslim.

The following is an excerpt of Shaban Sherif Mady’s sermon (originally in Arabic):

“Justin Trudeau – I call him today the Najashi of the current era. He hosted Muslims, honoured them, visited their mosques, greeted them for their holidays, and removed the suspicion that terrorism is related to Islam, honoured the Muslims, hosted the refugees.

He is the Najashi of the current era. This is the title of my sermon that will appear on YouTube – Justin Trudeau Najashi of the current era

“In Islam there are men, in the world there are men who helped the world with their wisdom, such as [Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan [President of Turkey] and Justin Trudeau.

“Salute to Justin Trudeau, O the Najashi of the current era. Thank you… This man is affable. This amiable man we call him the Najashi of the current era.

“Thank you for hosting our Muslims on behalf of this Canadian country which you run in the same way the Najashi ruled in ancient era our Muslims, who were oppressed and tortured [in Mecca].

“Thank you. Thanks you, O the Najashi of the current eraThe world is happy to see people like Erdoğan and Trudeau. With people such as those the compassion is spread, the friendship is spread, the love is spread…”

In his Friday sermons in Edmonton during the years 2013-14, Shaban Sherif Mady said the following:

O the courageous Palestinian people! Al-Quds (Jerusalem) will become the capital of the Islamic State, not of Palestine… Had it not been betrayal, all the territory of Europe was almost conquered from Andalus (Spain). This is the promise of the Prophet Mohammad. The victory will come… Then the Rightly-Guided Caliphate (Islamic State) will be established and it will follow the path of the Prophet (Mohammad). We will welcome it.”

Why (the Muslim Brotherhood movement was designated as) a terrorist organization? Because it calls for the return of the Caliphate (Islamic State). If so, I’m an operative of the Muslim Brotherhood, I’m a terrorist… (O Allah) to those who want to harm Islam and the Muslims, make their animosity annihilate themselves, make them kill themselves, destroy them completely, annihilate them all, like you did to the peoples of A’d and Thamoud… O Allah, support all mujahideen in any place around the globe.”

O Allah, support any mujaheed (jihadist) who raises the flag of Islam.”

The secularism is always in a war against Islam and this conflict between the two still exists.”

The [unmarried] adulterer and the [unmarried] adulteress will be flogged 100 times and their testimony will never be accepted by court.”
