Number of Mexican refugees detained by CBSA doubles in first two months of 2017

New statistics from Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) show that more Mexican migrants were detained in Canada in the first two months of 2017 as opposed to all of 2016, the CBC reported. So far, 444 Mexicans were detained since the beginning of January, as opposed to 410 Mexicans who were detained last year.

According to a new survey released on March 15, 2017 by Corporate Research Associates, one of Canada’s leading public opinion and market research companies, 68 per cent of Canadians in Atlantic Canada support the screening of prospective immigrants to Canada for Canadian values, an opinion consistent across all Atlantic provinces.
